GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 13: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a significant meeting aimed at reviewing the restoration, preservation, and maintenance efforts of architecture and heritage sites across the district.

The meeting, held in the VC Room of the DC Office, witnessed the participation of Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Superintending Engineer of PW(R&B) Circle Ganderbal, Deputy Director of Archives Archaeology and Museums Kashmir, and representatives from various other departments.

During the meeting, the DC was briefed on the importance of the scheme “Revival Restoration, Preservation, and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage” and the progress made thus far. It was revealed that currently, only one project, the Prayagraj Temple, is under revival, while project report formulation for other sites is underway.

In his directives, the DC emphasized the urgency of preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for identified sites such as Jarokha Bagh, Roopbhawani Temple, and others. These DPRs will be crucial for further discussions in subsequent meetings.

Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for a coordinated approach among all concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of restoration projects for historical and heritage religious places/assets in the district.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to value-based methodologies and adopting an integrated approach to conservation efforts.

Interacting with the attending officers, the DC reiterated the aim of the projects, which is to revive and preserve religious places and heritage sites that hold historical, cultural, and religious significance. He emphasized that conservation efforts must uphold the aesthetic, historic, and social values of the district’s rich civilizational and cultural heritage.
