MARCH 03: Deputy Comissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Tuesday inaugurated a Mega Kisan Mela at Sher-e- Kashmir Stadium Bandipora under centrally Sponsored Scheme National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (ATMA).
Farmers from nook and corner of the district participated in the Kissan Mela and were apprised with different agriculture techniques in the technical session which was held during the Kissan Mela.
Scientists from KVK Bandipora and officers from department of Agriculture shared information with the participating farmers about modern techniques to be adopted in Crop Husbandry, Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Kitchen gardening and backyard poultry rearing. Farmers were given knowledge of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes in vogue in agriculture sector and different incentives available to them under these schemes.Various allied departments had installed their stalls to highlight their contribution and to inform the people about their schemes.
The stalls attracted a number of farmers and youth to know about the schemes available for handholding of the farmers in different sectors.Speaking on the occasion DC Bandipora termed agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy and appealed all the participating farmers to come forward and avail the technical Knowhow which is being provided to them by the department through qualified agriculture technocrats.
He visited the stalls erected by department and allied sectors and interacted with the farmers and to get the feedback of various schemes.
He asked farmers to benefit from the schemes of agriculture department and allied sectors based on entitlement and ensure that they adopt agriculture and allied activities as a profession for themselves and posterity. He laid Stress on the implementation of various programmes with the objective to boost agriculture production and upliftment of socio economic conditions of the farming community.Earlier Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora advised the farmers to take advantage of all the schemes launched by the Department and cooperate with the field extension agency in implementing all the programmes for making the state self-sufficient in various food crops, pulses & oil seeds.
He also advised the farmers to adopt the High-tech Agriculture to boost Agriculture Production along with Mushroom Cultivation, Bee Keeping, and Vegetable & Flower Cultivation.
He stressed on the farmers to achieve maximum returns from the available land resources with a paradigm shift from traditional cropping patern.Among others present in the mela were Officers & officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry & fisheries department
