Terms their Empowerment Necessary for Social Stability
Baramulla, 02 July: District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today distributed about 18 Scooties among the specially abled persons of Sopore constituency during a function organized by Social Welfare department at Dak Bungalow. The scooties, procured under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Sopore have been distributed as a move to empower the specially abled persons so that they can live in society with dignity and honour.
On the ocassion, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla Syed Showket informed that these scooties have been procured at the cost of Rs 64000 each, having cumulative cost of Rs 11,52,000. He also presented a brief account of various schemes sponsored by Social Welfare Department that are meant for the welfare of specially abled persons.
District Development commissioner, during his speech hailed the efforts of social welfare department towards socio economic welfare of different sections of the society. He said that specially abled persons constitute an important component of our society besides terming their empowerment necessary for social stability and equilibrium. He also reiterated the administration’s commitment towards their welfare and rehabilitation and said that every possibility will be explored in this regard.
Meanwhile, DDC also interacted with the beneficiaries who put forward their grievances and demands pertaining their empowerment. They complained that Golden Cards under centrally sponsored Ayushman Bharat programme have not been distributed among them and demanded that the same may be distributed among them as soon as possible. DDC assured them that their demand shall be fulfilled in a time bound manner.
