Ganderbal 04 Sep : The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla, today chaired a meeting to discuss and ensure the relief and rescue for the people of the district living in low line and flood-prone areas, in case of any natural calamity.
The meeting was informed that sufficient stock of food grains, disaster management kits, sandbags and tents have been made available to meet any kind of eventuality, besides various task force committees have been constituted to monitor and tackle the flood like situations whenever a need arises in the district.
DDC reviewed the stocking of essential items like sandbags, edible items, and rescue operation equipment available in different departments.
The DDC directed the concerned to procure additional Boats, de-watering pumps, disaster management kits, first aid kits, and life saving jackets, water tankers, JCBs, and other basic requirements needed during the floods.
DDC also sought the requisition lists from the concerned without further delay and enjoined upon the officers to keep men and machinery ready so that the objective to ensure prompt and effective response towards disaster is mitigated to prevent the loss of public life and property.
He also directed all the heads of concerned departments and engineering wings to mobilize their field functionaries and ensure close coordination with each other and anticipate the events to tackle any kind of natural calamity.
During the meeting, the DDC issued instructions to the departments that action plans in this regard must be submitted and mock drills must also be conducted at Tehsil levels in collaboration with SDRF to remain prepared to deal with any kind of eventuality.
The meeting was attended by ACR Ganderbal, ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, ExEn PDD, I&FC and PHE, CMO Ganderbal, EO Municipal Committee, Ganderbal and other concerned officers.
