10-Year-Old Boy From Eidgah Among 4 More Discharged From SKIMS; 56595 Under Lens

Srinagar, April 15 (GNS): A 6-year-old girl and two doctors were among 22 persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the number of COVID-19 patients to 300 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Principal Secretary Planning Rohit Kansal said that four among the fresh cases reported in last 24-hours are from Jammu while remaining 18 in Kashmir division.
Kansal, who is also the spokesperson of government, said all of them are contacts of positive cases. “The total number of positive cases is now 300— 54 in Jammu and 246 in Kashmir,” he added.
Official sources told GNS eight among the fresh cases in Kashmir are from Ganderbal, three each from Bandipora and Srinagar besides two each from Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
Regarding cases in Ganderbal, the sources said they are contacts of a previous COVID-19 patient and all of them are also residents of Guzhama village. They include four males (aged 35, 25, 15 and 28) and as many females and includes 11-year-old girl while three other are 17-years-old, 20-years-old and 48-years-old respectively.
Srinagar cases include a 6-year-old girl from Nawakadal who is actually a resident of Vilgam Kupwara and she had come in contact with a COVID-19 from Chattabal area, they said. The two others include 48-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter, they added.
Cases from Bandipora include two men, 25-year-old and 45-year-old, and 38-year-old woman, all residents of Gundjahangir and contacts of previous patients.
Regarding Kupwara, sources said they include 18-year-old and 25-yera-old youths and both are residents of Muqam-e-Shahwali, contacts of a previous patient.
“2 more positives from Red Zone Anderhama (Muqam Shahwali), both contacts of earlier positive patient. Both are asymptomatic and are doing fine. Primary contacts being traced for quarantine and sampling,” Anshul Garg (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Kupwara said.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo told GNS that test reports of 76 samples was received and two of them returned positive. Sources said they include 36-year-old and 44-year-old from Sopore. One of them has travel history to Nizamudin New Delhi while other is a contact of a previous patient, they added.
Regarding Jammu, sources said they include two doctors—one from ASCOMS Sidhra and one Post Graduate (PG) from Medicines Department of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. The two others include 6-year-old mother of an earlier COVID positive GMC doctor, who has been discharged last week, and a resident of Udhampur.
Sources said that the Post Graduate from the Medicines Department of the GMC had attended Coronavirus positive woman from Tikri who died last week.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy from Eidgah Srinagar and three other COVID-19 patients were discharged from SKIMS hospital. “All four were tested negative multiple times at SKIMS and were discharged today,” Professor Farooq Ahmad Jan, medical Superintendent SKIMS, told GNS. He said three others include 23-year-old and 24-year-old men from S K Bala Bandipora while third one is a 34-year-old from Soibugh Budgam. With them, 36 persons have recovered in J&K and have been discharged.
Meanwhile, the government informed that 56595 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which includes 7784 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 270 in Hospital Quarantine, 260 in hospital isolation and 30228 under home surveillance. Besides, 18049 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period. The Bulletin further said that 4871 samples have tested as negative till April 15. (GNS)
