Two minutes silence observed to pay tribute to 03 martyred Army Jawans
Srinagar, August 05: The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh chaired a high level meeting to review the preparation and overall security arrangements regarding the celebration of forthcoming Independence Day functions across the J&K UT at Police Headquarters here this afternoon.

ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Mukesh Singh, ADGP Kashmir Zone, Shri Vijay Kumar, Range DIG DKR Range Dr Sunil Gupta, DIG NKR Shri Vivek Gupta, DIG RP Range Dr. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, DIG SKR Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DIG Traffic Range Jammu Shri Shridhar Patil, DIG Armed Jammu Ms Nisha Nathiyal and all district SsSP including Police districts attended the meeting through video conferencing.
On the onset of the meeting the DGP J&K expressed grief on the martyrdom of three Army jawans yesterday in an encounter at Kulgam and two minutes of silence was observed.
DGP J&K While referring to the martyrdom of three Army Jawans, the DGP said that we continue to make sacrifice wherever required for the sovereignty and integrity of the Country and for the safety of people. He complimented the officers & personnel on ground saying that they are doing the job best to their capabilities.
Regarding the preparations of Independence Day functions, the DGP sought reports from the officers about security & traffic arrangements and deployment plans put in place for the smooth and incident free Independence Day celebrations in twin capital cities, all district headquarters across J&K and other places.
The DGP discussed in detail all the arrangements to be made for smooth conduct of ID function and directed to ensure all the necessary arrangements are in place well in time. Emerging challenges and their counter measures were threadbare discussed during the meeting. He stressed for updating and refreshing of different databases regarding the activities of anti national elements including OGWs.
He directed for extra vigilance and precautions to be maintained for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations at main venues besides at all other places. He said that attempts by sponsored elements to create disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir do continue. The DGP emphasised on the officers for ensuring implementation of joint mechanisms chalked out at different levels.
The DGP stressed for making smooth traffic arrangements during the Independence Day celebrations, particularly routes leading to venues of functions in Srinagar and Jammu. Parking slots should be identified so that people participating in these functions should not face any inconvenience, he added.
The senior officers representing different units, agencies briefed the meeting about the required measures being taken to ensure incident free Independence Day celebrations. They also apprised the DGP regarding the overall security scenario and counter/preventative measures being taken in the areas of responsibilities.
