Srinagar 26 Feb【KNZ】:Scores of differently-abled persons on Monday staged a protest march towards Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s office here against the state government’s “callous attitude” towards the community.
Scores of persons with disabilities under the banner of J&K Handicapped Association marched from Pratap Park to Divisional Commissioner office while chanting anti-government slogans.
The protestors said that government is providing them Rs 1000 per month which is not enough to make the both ends meet.
They asked the state government to introduce reservation quota for them so that the educated youth who have disabilities can live a normal life without depending on others.
“The government has reduced our demands to meetings only, we want government to take some serious steps towards our welfare”, president of the association, Abdul Rashid Bhat said.
They threatened to intensify their protests if their demands were not met at the earliest.
