‘Mega Revenue Conference to be convened on August 23’

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that digitization of land records would bring much needed transparency in the land mapping at individual and institutional level as well.
The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting to review the ambitious centrally sponsored Digitalization of land Records Modernization Programme (DLRMP) here.
The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Revenue Lokesh Jha, Shahid Inayatullah Commissioner Survey and Land Records J&K, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan Commissioner Secretary Revenue Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone and other Revenue officers. The meeting was also attended by the officials of Ramtech.
To realize the dream of DLRMP in J&K, the Minister directed for strengthening of DLRMP cell Srinagar with the deployment of 20 more revenue officials including Girdawars and Patwaris.
The Minister also directed the officers to expedite the process of engaging 30 retired old hands to simultaneously quality check the digitalization prepared by the Ramtech company.
Veeri said that clarity in land ownership will also reveal the quantum of land possessed by a person, eventually enabling the latter to purchase land, give deeds, enter mutations and do all kinds of land transactions at the press of a button. He also said that government and revenue officials will also have exact details of the land available in the State on completion of the digitization process.
For better revenue management, the Minister directed for framing of timeline for completion of Jamabandi at Tehsil level. Mr Veeri impressed on the officers to fix the target of Jamabandi to every concerned Revenue official.
The officials of the Ramtech Company informed the Meeting that sample digitalization of land records of Kreeri village has been completed and Srinagar north and Jammu west would expedited as model towns for digitalization of land records.
The Officials of the Ramtech company assured the Minister the timeline will be adhered in completion of the project.
The meeting also decided to organize a mega Revenue Conference where in Revenue officials will interact directly with higher ups of the department and retired experienced hands would share their rich experiences to make the Revenue process more public friendly.
