Jammu :Police arrested a doctor and seized a Critical Care Ambulance which was operating from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and had nexus with private operators for fleecing patients to mint money from them illegally.
Incharge GMC Police Post along with two Selection Grade Constables Sohan Lal and Harjeet Singh, observed a person roaming mysteriously in the premises of GMC and when detained for questioning, he disclosed his identity as Dr Nixon Burat, son of Samuel Burat, a resident of Christian Colony in Prem Nagar Jammu, presently putting up at Kailash Nagar in Talab Tillo.
It is pertinent to mention here that GMC administration was as usual in deep slumber, and unaware of all this but initiated action only after the action by Police. While talking to STATE TIMES, Principal GMC&H, Dr Shashi Sudan said, “The arrested doctor had done his MBBS from Russia but didn’t appear in the Medical Council of India’s mandatory test for recognition of his MBBS degree in India and as such, is a fake doctor. Police has done a great job. I have asked our security officers to stay more alert and we are trying best to curb this menace.”
She further added, “We provide excellent services to patients and are here to address the issues of patients and attendants. We are working here for people and I appeal to people to stay aware and in case of any problem, they can approach the administration.” Dr Sudan further said,” It’s a serious issue and we will do our best that nothing like this happens in future.”
