Srinagar, Jan 13 (KS): The Meteorological Department on Saturday said that continued dry spell in Jammu and Kashmir until January 23, with the possibility of light snowfall over the upper reaches on January 16 and 20.
An official from MeT informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that dry weather likely to continue till 23rd Jan with feeble WDs approaching on 16th and 20th evening. The official said that under the influence of these western disturbances, generally cloudy weather with light snow over isolated higher reaches is expected.
On 21-23rd January, the official said, weather will remain generally dry. Redevelopment of fog with cold day conditions from tomorrow onwards till 16th January over plains of Jammu division, the official said.
Regarding the minimum temperatures, the official said that Srinagar witnessed a relatively milder night, recording a low of 0.2°C compared to the chillier -4.0°C on the previous night.
Qazigund, the official said, experienced a decrease, reaching -2.0°C from -4.2°C, while Pahalgam saw an improvement with a low of -0.6°C, contrasting the -5.3°C from the night before.
Kokernag, the official said, reported -1.2°C against -2.4°C, Kupwara had -0.3°C compared to -4.4°C, and Gulmarg recorded -1.0°C after -3.2°C.
Jammu’s minimum temperature, the official said, rose slightly to 4.0°C from the previous night’s 3.7°C. Banihal registered 3.0°C, Batote 8.0°C, and Bhaderwah 5.8°C, the official said. (KS)
