After Eid Prayers, Clashes Break Out Between Youths and Security Forces in Eid Gah Srinagar

Srinagar: Clashes broke out between groups of youths and security forces at Eid Gah Srinagar after Eid prayers on Saturday after the prayers were over at the Eidgah here, a group of youths started pelting stones at security forces who were deployed there to maintain law and order.
Security personnel used tear smoke shells to disperse the protestors, the official said, adding that there were no reports of any one getting injured. Officials said the second largest gathering was held at the Eidgah in the old city in which more than 40,000 people participated.
Massive protests rocked Eidgah after the prayers with hundreds of youth trying to lead an anti-India march. Shouting pro freedom slogans, the protestors, some of them masked, raised Pakistani flags and clashed with the security forces.
Some youths wearing masks waved the Pakistani and Islamic State (IS) flags, after which the security forces chased them away.
Protests were also witnessed in parts of north and south Kashmir. In most places, police used teargas to control the crowd. While the police on Friday arrested JKLF chief Yasin Malik, chairmen of both factions of the Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, were kept under house arrest this morning.
