No security lapse as policeman also injured; have checked CCTVs, got vital leads; will take measures to prevent such attacks: DIG Central Kashmir Sujit Kumar

Srinagar, Mar 06 (KNO): An elderly man was killed while 23 others including many women sustained injuries in a grenade explosion at Hari Singh High Street (HSHS) Srinagar on Sunday, police said.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Central Kashmir range, Sujit Kumar while talking to reporters at the site of incident said that in the afternoon, a grenade was tossed at the busy place near Amira Kadal-HSHS Srinagar. “An elderly man has died while 23 others including a police man sustained injuries,” he said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Replying to a query, the DIG said that it wasnt a security lapse as a policeman has also got injured.
“We have got the CCTV footage and some vital clues have coke forward,” he said. The DIG said that no outfit has claimed responsibility so far and police was working on leads to track the attackers. He said police will take steps to prevent attacks at busy places. “We will not allow it to become a trend,” he said, adding that security was a challenge in entire Kashmir inclusing Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the slain man has been identified as Abdul Salaam Makhdoomi, 70, of Nowhatta Srinagar while as hospital sources said that among the injured many were women—(KNO)
