Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): Crime Branch Kashmir on Tuesday clarified that the present Zonal Education officer (ZEO) has no concern with the fund embezzlement case of school.
“This is in reference and clarification of a report published in various newspapers and news circulated in social media regarding Crime Branch books ZEO Langate and two others in fund embezzlement case,” Crime Branch officials said.
“It is hereby clarified for the general public that the then ZEO Langate Ab Jabbar Mir of Batergam Kupwara has issued the work order for the construction of school building in the year 2010-11 before the charge of present ZEO Langate,” they said.
They added that a detailed factual report has already been submitted to the higher authority for the clarification. “Accordingly, the whole work was executed under the supervision of the then ZEO Langate who has released all the payments for which he has been called by the crime Branch Srinagar,” he said.
“This office was also asked for the detailed report regarding the same school building which was submitted. It is pretend to mention here that the then ZEO Ab Jabbar Mir has made payments up to 573592 out of estimated cost 632000,” the officials said.
The statement issued to KNS added that the building has yet not been handed over to the Education Department Zone Langate. The current ZEO has served many notices to the said contractor many times for the completion and handing over the school building.
“It is to be mentioned here that the present ZEO Aga Ab Rashid has not any concern with case,” they said. (KNS)
