Srinagar, Aug 24: An encounter broke out in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday wee hours.
Reports reaching GNS said that the joint team of SOG and army have laid a seige at Gadole hamlet of Vailoo area of Kokernag during midnight.
SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan told GNS that the cordon-and-search operation was launched in the area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.
“The contact has been established with the hiding militants at Gadole and the operation is ongoing,” SSP said.
Official sources said that two two to three militants are believed to be under trap.
Meanwhile, inwake of the gunfight, authorities snapped internet service in parts of Anantnag district.(GNS)
