Sought conducive atmosphere for healthy debates in universities

Srinagar 19 Aug【KNZ】: AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed today during his 45 minute long meeting with Governor Mr. N. N. Vohra expressed deep concern over the conspiracy being created against Article 35-A by certain sections. Er. Rasheed apprised Governor about the sentiments of people over the issue and said that the law is in practice since 19thcentury and it has nothing to do with a particular community or the region and it were the people of Jammu who persuaded Maharaja to from state subject laws and not to allow anyone to purchase land in the state for the larger interest of people of the state. Er. Rasheed requested Governor to ask Govt. to hold an emergency session of the state Assembly to discuss this significant issue. He also requested Governor to apprise union Govt. not to encourage forces, who are keen bent to drag J&K’s special status to the Supreme Court. He requested Governor to facilitate a conducive atmosphere in universities where students can express their views without violence and sought revocation of ban on formation of student unions. Er. Rasheed also discussed various developmental issues pertaining to Langate constituency including measures being taken to develop Bungas and Leepa as prominent tourist destinations.
