Ganderbal 09 Nov【KNZ】: Established in 1977 Tehsil Library Ganderbal is still working in rented rooms.The space crunch in the library , is detractor for members to visit the library regularly.The library is also not able accommodate book collections.
Ali Mohamad Mir, a former Liberian ,who was working in the library said, “The Library was established in 1977 in a single room . Since then it has been shifted to half a dozan places.we approached to many official for a piece of land but all in vain.”
With the help of former MLC Sheikh Gulam Rasool 1 Kanal of land was identified in old Physical Education college Ganderbal but unfortunately no progress was made to acquire the land.”he added
Towseef Ahmad Rather a member of the Library said ,”Library is lacking proper infrastructure . Library don’t have enough space to cater to large chunk of students,Acadmicans and book lovers.It also sans Proper reading rooms and wash rooms .The current location of the library in rented rooms is not in proximity .It should have been in main town.Many people even don’t know there is any library in Ganderbal,it is only because The library is with out building .”
When contacted Mukthar ul Aziz Director Department of Libraries and Researcher he said ,”Most of our libraries are working in rented buildings.If Ganderbal district administration will provide us land ,we with in no time will started working on the construction of building for the library .We are even upgrading the library to District library . Proper own building Will be asset for us.”
When this reporter contacted DC Ganderbal Piyush Singla ,he Said, “Let me examine the matter. We should have a good library with best infrastructure in the district .Library Authorities can meet me .We Will discuss about it and hopefully land will be provided for the construction of the Library building.”
