Ganderbal Oct 31【KNZ】:A day long Training cum awarness program on ‘Boundary Plantation under AICRP-Agroforestry’ was organised by Faculty of Forestry, Benhama, SKUAST-K today.

The event was chaired by Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad and was attended among others by Dean Faculty of Forestry and HODs of different Divisions of SKUAST and Scientists of Faculty of Forestry.
Around 100 farmers of Benhama, Wutlar and Anderwan Villages were made aware of the importance of boundary plantation, agroforestry, soil heath management, agro horticulture and integrated farming system.

Director Extension in his speech outlined the importance of integrated for doubling the income of farmers. He also asked farmers to remain in touch with scientists for profitable farming enterprises.

Dean Faculty of forestry, Prof F. A. Banday while welcoming the Chief Guests and other subject matter specialists and farmers stressed on Agri-Horti pasture models in the best interest of strengthening the returns of the farming comunity.

Prof Nayeema Jabeen, scientist vegitable science, Dr J. A. Mugloo, principal investigator of the AICRP and coordinator of the program, Dr J.A. Bhat, Scientist, Soil Science also spoke on the occasion regarding different dimensions of profitable farming practices.

Later Poly houses among the farmers for protected agriculture during winter months were distributed among the participating farmers.KNZ
