Srinagar, Apr 30: Jammu and Kashmir police has registered an FIR in connection with an alleged doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
A police complaint was filed by BJP leader Altaf Thakur against a social media user for uploading the video of Home Minister.
“This is to inform you one mischievous person under the name of Illyas Mir Magami @ Magamiillyas has uploaded a dubbed and fake video of Shri Amit Shah where in it is stated that Centre is going to remove the reservation of SC and ST people in J&K, which is totally baseless and far from facts,” Thakur stated in the complaint. ” I request you to kindly act swiftly against the person and arrest him for spreading wrong information as the act has a potential to trigger resentment and protest by the SC and ST community of J&K,” it added.
After the complaint a case was registered in police station Magam Budgam on Monday under section 505( 2 ) (statements conducing to public mischief’) and 171 G (false statement in connection with an election) of Indian Penal Code. According to the FIR, it has been reliably learnt that a post has been shared on social media platform ‘X’ ( previously Twitter ) containing the fake/ doctored video of Union Home Minister of India, with an intention to spread misleading information for creating disharmony among communities and different sections of society. The investigation has been initiated and entrusted to Sub-Inspector, the FIR read.–(UNI)
