Doda, Feb 15 : At least five passengers were killed after an Eco vehicle fell into a deep gorge at Rangi Nallah in Batote area of district Doda in Jammu region.
The mishap occurred on Monday evening.
Divulging information about the incident, SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad told news agency KNT that five bodies have been recovered so far. He said rescue operation is underway and details of passengers boarding the vehicle are being gathered.
The vehicle was on way to Batote from Doda and it met with an accident near Batote when the driver lost the control and the vehicle plunged into the deep gorge.
The vehicle has suffered massive damage.
Hospital sources said that five persons were brought to hospital and all were dead. They identified the deceased as Rakesh Kumar S/o Data Ram R/o Ganika, Bhag Dai W/o Girdhari Lal R/o Jatheli A/p Nagri Doda, Ishan S/o Ajit Singh R/o Jatheli A/p Nagri Doda, Rekha W/o Ajit Singh R/o Jatheli A/p Nagri Doda and the driver Ajit Singh S/o Dihan Singh R/o Bijarni Doda
A minor girl Anaya daughter of Ajit Singh who was missing was found alive. (KNT)
