Srinagar December 18: Goverment forces on Monday evening launched a cordon and search operation in Shopian village of South kashmir.
Reports reaching news agency GNS said that a joint team of 44RR and SOG cordoned off Batmurran Hemlet of Wanpora following intelligence input about presence of militants.
As such the joint team laid siege in the area, the locals mostly youth took to street and started pelting stones on forces.
The Police and para military forces used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.
Sources also said that locals made announcement on Mosque loud speakers about cordon and search operation in area. (GNS)
