Ganderbal 15 June (KNZ): A special drive and awareness by food safety department under the supervision of Designated Officer Ganderbal along with food safety officers in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district.
The department put its services of ( FSW )Food Safety On wheels testing van about 30 samples of different commodities like milk,curd ,oils ,spices, juices icecreams,were tested on spot and formal samples of various food items were procured for detailed analysis after same were found in contravention of prescribed parameters, a Technologist Food safety Farooq Ahmad Mir said.
In addition an extensive awareness was also imparted among different food business operators of main market Sonamarg to follow good hygienic practices and best practices in safe food. besides ill effects of use of outdated newspapers as wrappers and covering material which is prohibited under law, use of plastics with leeching are prohibited and along with the use synthetic colours in preparation of various cuisines .
According to technologist Use of News papers for wraping food items in not allowed and Reusing cooking oil without using a deep fryer is extremely harmful to your health,as aldehydes and radicals are being formed.
Common stock of people especialy yatra and forieghners appreciated the efforts of food safety department and appealed the department to carry such awareness activities more frequently.KNZ
