Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): In view of the repairs and maintenance of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway-the only road connecting the Valley with the rest of the world, the authorities Thursday ordered its closure on every Wednesday in the month of June.
In an order, issued by the Public Works department, Jammu and Kashmir, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that it been now decided that all Wednesdays in the month of June would be Traffic dry days on NH-44.
“Kindly refer to this Department’s letter No. PW(R&B)/Plan/NH 44/67/2020 dated: 08.04.2021 regarding Traffic Dry Day on NH-44 for undertaking major repairs and maintenance works on NH-44,” reads the order.
It reads that it has now been decided that all Wednesday falling on 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of June, 2021 would be Traffic Dry Day on NH-44.
“Accordingly, I am directed to request you to kindly advise concerned Traffic Officers/Officials to notify the same for Public information and facilitate NH Works,” the order reads.
Meanwhile, an official said that tomorrow there shall be no traffic movement on the National highway from either side in view of the maintenance, repairing of the road—(KNO)
