Srinagar, Feb 12 (KS) : In a significant political development, former Jammu and Kashmir Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Shahnaz Ganai has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Ganai, an influential figure in the region’s political landscape, formally joined the party at its headquarters in New Delhi.
Speaking on her decision to join the BJP as per News Agency Kashmir Scroll, Ganai praised the government for its efforts in extending reservation benefits to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the former state, now a Union Territory.
A staunch advocate for public service and the welfare of the people, Ganai expressed her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s philosophy of ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’ and stated that the government has empowered every section of society.
She applauded the developmental progress in the “new” Kashmir and emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are eager to strengthen Modi and the BJP.
