DDC chairs preparatory meeting with stakeholders
GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 27: In a significant move towards boosting the tourism sector, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir Tuesday chaired a pivotal meeting on the preparation of the District Tourism Plan at VC Room DC Office, here.
The Meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; CEO Sonamarg Development Authority, Farooq Ahmad Baba; CPO, DFO Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal, Tourist Officers of Sonamarg Development Authority and Wullar Manasbal Development Authority and Assistant Faculty JKEDI Ganderbal.
The meeting’s core objective was to harness the collective expertise and perspectives of a diverse group of professionals, each bringing their unique insights to the table.
This collaborative effort aimed at formulating a comprehensive strategy to elevate Ganderbal’s tourism infrastructure, promote sustainable tourism practices, and spotlight the district’s distinctive attractions to both domestic and international tourists.
At the outset, a detailed discussion was held on potential unexplored soft and hard tourism zones within the district, setting the stage for an in-depth discussion on leveraging these areas for tourism development.
The meeting saw active participation from various key stakeholders including President Adventure Tour Operators, Abdul Rouf Tramboo; renowned trekking and expedition specialist, Manzoor Wangnoo; President Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization, Manzoor Ahmad Wangoo; Ex. President Travel Agents Association Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Kuthoo; and tourism vlogger, Mohammad Sharif Bhat who shared insights on the industry’s challenges and opportunities, and discussed strategies for marketing Ganderbal as a top-tier destination.
The meeting served as a vibrant forum for exchanging ideas and recommendations, setting a positive trajectory for the development of a tourism plan that not only aims to enhance Ganderbal’s tourism appeal but also ensures the sustainability of its natural and cultural heritage.
