Ganderbal:- Protest by PDL/TDL daily wage workers Wednesday in the Power Development Department (PDD) Ganderbal Circle took a dramatic turn as a group of 128 “leftover” workers opposed the protest, citing irregularities in the seniority list.

The protesting TDL/PDL workers, siad they have been working for 15-20 years on meager wages, demanded the implementation of the 2019 Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and the submission of the seniority list to higher authorities.

They alleged that the delay in implementing the DPC has severely impacted their careers and livelihoods. However, the 128 leftover workers, led by President Nazir Ahmad Kandoo, opposed the protest, claiming that the seniority list contains irregularities and deficiencies. Kandoo pointed out that some individuals who haven’t uploaded their Aadhaar Uploaded on the financial department website are included in the list, and some employees were engaged without any record of their Cash Voucher (CV) prior to 2015.

Nazir urged higher authorities to thoroughly review the seniority list before any further action.

When Contacted Superintendent Engineer Mohammad Arshid Reshi informed Kashmir Reader Thar The matter is currently sub-judice, with the next hearing scheduled for February 24th in the High Court. SE siad that the leftover 128 PDL/TDL workers have obtained a status quo order from the court.

Meanwhile the tussle between the workers has highlighted the internal divisions within the PDD Ganderbal Circle, with protesting workers demanding their rights and a group of leftover workers raising concerns about the fairness and accuracy of the seniority list and need for transparency and accountability in the department’s recruitment and promotion processes.
