Ganderbal: The newly formed body of Ganderbal Press Association today held it’s first ever general body elections here in Govt Degree College Ganderbal today.
Mir Aftab of Hind Samachar was elected as the President beating his opponent Shah Aijaz with a margin of 36-12 votes.
Vice president post went to GN Raina where he defeated his opponent Sabik Ali Sabik by 25-22 votes.
Saleem Wani of Gulistan News was elected General Secretary unopposed whereas Raja Syed Rather secured the Treasurer post unopposed.
The elections were held through a well decorated ballot voting process.
The elections were conducted in a free and fair manner through a well decorated ballot voting process under the vigil of ADDC Ganderbal Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani and Principal Government Degree College Fozia Fatima as Chief Guest.
The Election Committee of Ganderbal Press Association headed by senior journalist Ayaz Sofi and other members Hadi Hidayat, Aaqib Rasool, Mukhtar ahmad and Adil mustafa played a vital role in the smooth conduct of the elections.
On the occasion the oath ceremony was also organized under the chairmanship of ADDC Ganderbal.
Newly elected president, vice president, general secretary and treasurer took oath to work under the constitution and frame work of Ganderbal press association.
They also gave assurance to work for the benefit of Press fraternity and society on the whole and assured implementation of free, fair and fearless journalism and pledged to end yellow and pseudo journalism.
At last all members of Ganderbal Press Association extend their gratitude towards Snowland Hotels and Resorts Sonamarg, Star Knights a group of star companies, New Dreamland Educational Institute Ganderbal and Master Mechanics Ganderbal for their cooperation.
