GANDERBAL, JULY 24: The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr. Piyush Singla today directed the SDM Kangan to visit the Kangan area that are hit by the flash- floods and took stock of the damage caused in the area.
Incessant rains and a cloudburst over the catchment area of kulan and Najwan Nallah have led to water logging in several parts of the Kangan.
Flash-floods have damaged some part of road of Preng, Hayan and akhal and snapped of water supply pipes besides water logging at some places especially in yanhama, Hayan, Palpora, Preng and Akhal.
Dr. Singla has directed the SDM Kangan to make arrangements for the desilting in the Kulan Nallah so as to stop further damage.
DDC directed SDM Kangan for strengthening and raising the embankments of the river. He asked him to identify the weaker sports and strengthen them and dewater the area immediately.
Dr. Singla assured prompt disbursement of ex-gratia relief, as per the norms after proper assessment of damage report.
Later SDM Kangan informed that Executive Engineer of I&FC has already deployed men and machinery to clear the slit and mud from Kulan Nallah and to clear the roads off boulders and mud for immediate restoration of vehicular traffic.
SDM Kangan said that due to flash flood the water pipes, culverts, bunds and agricultural land is damaged, Tehsildar Kangan is directed to make assessment report.
Similarly, the PHE department is also directed to restore damaged water pipes immediately so that people do not suffer.
