Ganderbal 09 Jan (KNZ): A team of Geology and Mining department Ganderbal led by District Mineral Officer Er Zulfikar Mohd Shafi with assistance of SHO Kheerbawani Mudasir Ahmad on Monday seized 7 vehicles involved in illegal mining.
The 7 vehicles including 6 tractors and 1 tipper involved in illegal transportation were seized at Shallabugh and Gund Moomin areas of Ganderbal.
The District Mineral Officer further informed that the action has been initiated as per the MMDR Act.
The DMO said 7 vehicles seized by the department. All the vehicles after seizure were handed over to Police till the realization of penalty by the geology and mining department.
DMO also appealed drivers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal mining practices.KNZ
