District Administration Ganderbal Looking For Several Patches Of Land In The Vicinity Of Already Completed Structures

Days after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti assured that Central University Kashmir would not be shifted from Ganderbal and will be constructed on the alternate land in the same district, authorities have geared up to identify the alternate land in the vicinity of the existing structures of the university.

Officials in district administration Ganderbal told Greater Kashmir that they had provided 4024 Kanals of land, mostly marshy, to CUK in Tulmulla area on which engineers of National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) have recommended construction of only pre-engineered huts.

They said that arranging huge chunk of alternate land at a single place for the entire project is not possible within the same area and authorities are thinking about several patches of land in the vicinity so that the buildings of the entire project can come up nearer to each other.

Quoting MHRD officials, they said that the marshy land at Tulmulla was not fit for construction of two to three storey buildings.

Shahnawaz Bukhari, ADC Ganderbal, told Greater Kashmir that for the construction of buildings they have identified some patches of land consisting more than two hundred kanals at Badampora.

The ADC said that they have told VC CUK to shift his office from Srinagar to Ganderbal for which they are going to arrange accommodation in Physical Education College Ganderbal on temporary basis.

Meanwhile, a group of prominent citizens and civil society members of Ganderbal have apprised DC Ganderbal about consequences of shifting the university to some other district.
