Srinagar, October 24 : Gunfight rages in Soothu Kothair Bagh area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district between militants and goverment forces on Wednesday in wee hours.
Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of Police and Army’s 50RR cordoned off Soothu Kothair area on a specific information about presence of some militants in the area.
As soon as goverment forces zeroed on to suspected house the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.
SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray told GNS that contact has been established with the hiding militants and gunfight is on.
As per sources two militants are believed to be trapped. Till this story was filed intermittent firing was going on.(GNS)
