Handloom Development Department organised a day long awareness camp at village Daramdora Shopian to sensitize weavers and artisans about welfare package and government sponsored schemes for Handloom weavers.Addressing the gathering, the Assistant Director Handloom and Handicrafts, Shopian, Ashfaq hussain said the aim of the organising the camp is to aware the weavers and artisans about various welfare and job oriented schemes and also laid emphasis on quality work in present competitive scenario. Awareness about new credit plan scheme was given under which a registered weaver/artisan can avail credit facility of Rs 1.80 lac with 7% interest subsidy for a period of five years.
The representatives of school of design informed the gathering about latest marketable trends and designs in kani shawl weaving and assured of help to weavers at every stage of the production and marketting.
DDC member, Ab Wahid also graced the occasion and promised the artisan and weaver community of his support at any required platform.
Speaking on the occasion, Handicrafts Training Officer shopian, Imtiyaz Ahmad highlighted new trend of E- commerce, where any weaver/artisan can sell their products online on platforms like Flipkart, Government E marketplace and the Department shall facilitate the weavers/artisans with every possible help.
