Handwara Police arrests three notorious drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered
May 26: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Handwara have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Ganapora Crossing intercepted an individual identified as Danish Farooq Mir resident of Nowpora Tujjer-Shareef. During search officers were able to recovered 50gms of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where he remains in custody.
Similarly, officers at a checkpoint established at Batgund crossing intercepted a truck bearing registration number JKO9B-4743 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Abdul Rouf Bukhari and Shabir Ahmad Malik both residents of Haril Mawar. During search officers were able to recover 500gms of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qalamabad where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Case FIR numbers 66/2020 and 51/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Kralgund and PS Qalamabad respectively. Further investigation into the cases has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
