Srinagar, August 10, KDC: Dr. Fayaz Mir, a distinguished academician with a remarkable career in immunology, is preparing to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), sources said.
They told the Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com that Dr. Fayaz Mir has been in touch with the PDP high command over the past few weeks and is most likely to join the party officially in the coming days.
Dr. Fayaz’s anticipated entry into politics is seen as a strategic move by PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, who has been actively seeking young, educated professionals to join the party.
Dr. Mir, a native of Tral, earned his doctoral degree at the Max-Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin, Germany, and completed a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, from 2010 to 2013.
He then served briefly at the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar before moving to Qatar in 2014. Currently, Dr. Mir is a Research Scientist at Hamad Medical Corporation and holds the position of Associate Professor of Immunology at Qatar University’s School of Medicine. (KDC
