Reacting to the reports of possible heavy snowfall in Kashmir in coming days, Director Meteorological Department (MeT) Sonam Lotus Sunday said there are no chances of heavy snowfall in plains especially in Srinagar and its vicinities saying he “never uttered a single word about heavy snowfall”.
Talking to a local news agency, Lotus said media is itself making stories about heavy snowfall. “There are chances of light to moderate rainfall from December 11 to 15. We never said there will be heavy snowfall. There might be some snowflakes with the rain,” Lotus said.
However, according to Lotus, there are possibilities of snow in higher reaches while the lower and low lying areas will receive rainfall. “We hope it snows, but as of now there are no such predictions. But rainfall will occur. The temperature will also dip. But there is no need to panic,” he said.
