Srinagar, Feb 22 : Joint Forces Monday diffused in Improvised Explosive Device on Srinagar-Nowgam road while hours after the incident a flash crackdown was conducted in the heart of Srinagar city.
People were asked to make a queue, their identity cards were checked and clothes and bags frisked.
The videos and photographs of HSHS and Amira Kadal frisking went viral. Most of the netizens said that this reminded them of 1990’s when BSF used to direct people to make a queue and they were frisked and questioned.
“Large number of people was frisked. All the people present in Amria Kadal, Hari Singh High Street, including the ones who were in private and public vehicles were frisked and their identification cards were checked before allowing them to move forward,” said an eyewitness to KNT.
They said such crack-downs were a normal routine in 1990’s. “I was stuck in the crackdown for a long time and failed to reach at the desired place. It was a wastage of time for me,” said a youth.
Earlier, an IED was detected that was diffused on Srinagar-Nowgam road by Joint Forces. From past week, Srinagar city witnessed a couple of militant attacks. In wake of these attacks, IGP reviewed security scenario in a meeting at Srinagar and it was decided to conduct flash crackdowns at crowded places and also decision to increase the number of check points in Srinagar was taken.
