December 18: Police in Budgam have arrested 12 persons & seized 12 vehicles involved in illegal excavation & transportation of minerals.
A police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Main Chowk Soibugh intercepted & seized 12 tippers bearing registration numbers JKO1AJ-3341, JK04B-1587, JK01K-1749, JK02AD-8247, JK01R-6744, JK02X-9359, JK04A-4016, JK01F-9165, JK01F-9413, JK03B-9901, JK01V-5525 & JK01AB-4616. They have also arrested twelve (12) persons identified as Amir Ashraf Malla resident of Shilwat, Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh resident of Tengpora, Tariq Ahmad Bhat resident of Hajjibagh, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar resident of Cheewa, Imran Hussain Dar resident of HMT, Waseem Rashid Khan resident of Parimpora, Abid Hussain Mir resident of Bemina, Mehraaj Din Sofi resident of Hajji Bagh, Showkat Ahmad Shah resident of Hajji Bagh, Arif Hussain Wani resident of Beerwah, Ajaz Ahmad Dar resident of Tengpora and Ishfaaq Ahmad Khan resident of Gariend Kalan involved in the commission of crime.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 361/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.
Police requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
