Baramulla October 26: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 12 vehicles and arrested 11 persons in Baramulla.
Police parties under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla & SDPO Pattan assisted by SHO PS Baramulla, Pattan & Incharge PP Delina seized 12 vehicles (7 tippers, 4 tractors, 1 excavator) and arrested 11 persons (Drivers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ghat Delina, Chakloo & Khanpeth. The accused persons have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Yousuf Mir, Javaid Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, Khursheed Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, Mohd Amin Mir son of Mohd Maqbool Mir, all residents of Ghat Delina, Riyaz Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohd Subhan Ganaie resident of Zehanpora, Mohd Irfan Malik son of Mohd Amin resident of Drangbal, Irshad Ahmad Dar son of Noor Mohd Dar resident of Jalsheeri Baramulla, Imran Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Malik resident of Drangbal, Mehraj Din Sofi son of Gh Hassan resident of Chijhama Rafiabad, Nadeem Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Soipora Magam & Akhtar Ali Malik son of Gh Hassan Malik resident of Soipora Magam. Meanwhile 01 accused driver fled away from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
