Kulgam December 06: Continuing its drive against persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police arrested one person and seized three vehicles in Kulgam.
A Police party led by SHO Police Station Qazigund during patrolling along the banks of river Sandran found some vehicles engaged in illegal mining, on noticing police party, two persons (tipper drivers) managed to flee from the spot and left their vehicles behind. However, one person (driver of JCB) identified as Asif Ahmad Shah son of Bashir Ahmad Shah resident of Sangran was arrested. Besides, three vehicles including (02 Tippers and 01 JCB) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals were also seized on spot.
In this regard, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation have been initiated.
People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
