Budgam: Illegal extraction of soil, bajri and sand is going unabated on the Karewa hills in sub division beerwha area of central Kashmir Budgam. If Government of j&k already banned under jk land revenue act sec 133-A.
The process is going on “unabated”in some areas of sub division beerwha “ the land mafia is active to vandalize the natural karewas”.The resident of sehpora beerwha told KNZ soil are being excavated from “chaira wudder”
During night hours to avoid any official interference. Scores of tippers and Tractors ferrying soil to other places with out any fear in a broad day light now.Locals say that unfortunately there is chaos among the inhabitants-thanks to insensitivity of the Administration, he said that we approached the district administration several times but in vane as those at the Helen of affairs are turning a deaf ear to our plea.” Locals told KNZ that JCB’S and Bulldozers are using for excavating soil in chaira and many other areas of beerwha.Locals told that lack of action from local administration, land mafia has become more active from past weeks to soil cutting thus damaging the karewas and fruit trees
Locals while expressing anguish over the unabated plunder of karewas hold construction companies and land mafias. Are responsible for the mess. There is also Illegal extraction of sand and boulders from Nallah –sukhnag in beerwha area of Cenral Kashmir Budgam.
According to the locals in Nallah-sukhnag Trucks and Tractors are being loaded with sand and boulders and unloaded at different Destinations for construction purpose ,but it is pertinently, govt has imposed a Blanket ban on the extractions of boulder’s and sand in streans owing to the threat To the agriculture land.
The locals added that in the absence of policing and onspot visiting officials,the Mafia is taking full advantage of worst extraction. (KNZ)
