BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 12: To sensitize masses regarding the importance of girl child, a daylong awareness programme was organized at mini secretariat Bandipora to celebrate international Girl Child Day, 2020 under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, District Information Officer Jahangeer Akhoon, Coordinator BBBP, Altaf Ahmad, Coordinator Mahila Shakti Kendra Bandipora Shah Aisha and Sumaya Muzaffar besides the frontline workers from ICDS and Health department and female students of different educational institutions were present.
On the occasion District Development Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad said that female folk must realize their importance and role in society. He said, the girls who have achieved success in various fields of life must act as ambassadors to guide other girls to utilize their potential in a proper way. Dr Owais said, girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of girl child for the empowerment of women. “A Woman plays a key role in harmonizing and strengthening social relations and bonds. He said that we should adopt multipronged strategies for upliftment of women folk”.
He also announced establishment of a separate Women Helpline at Mini Secretariat Bandipora for the aggrieved women folk and shall be run by Women only. He also lauded the efforts of MSK and One-Stop Centre for hand holding the aggrieved women folk.
While speaking on the occasion the ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir highlighted the objectives of programme and said we must encourage girls for socio, economic and political development of society. He said that the girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of their needs and empowerment.
On the occasion DDC provided cash prize to seven girls who contributed their research articles for the Research Journal Parvaaz 2020 published by Mahila Shakti Kendra Bandipora.
