Srinagar, Aug 31 (NVI): As the campaigning for the first phase of elections gains momentum, senior Congress leader and the party’s leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi is arriving in Kashmir on September 4 to address mega rally in Dooru Assembly segment of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Confirming Rahul’s visit, senior Congress leader and former J&K president of the party Ghulam Ahmed Mir said their dearest leader is all set to address a rally in Dooru Assembly constituency of Anantnag district.
Pertinently, Mir is Congress candidate for the party. Mir said that Rahul’s visit is indeed a great opportunity for him to win the confidence of the voters and people in general.

“Rahul’s vision and speech is always a great morale booster for both—the contesting candidates and the voters,” he said. This will be second visit of Rahul to Kashmir since August 22. On August 22, he along with the All India Congress Committee chief Malikarjun Kharge arrived on a two-day visit to J&K.

Rahul had announced an alliance with the National Conference on August 22 stating that in the coalition with the NC, there would be no compromise with the Congress workers’ interest. Pertinently, NC and Congress have entered into a pre-poll alliance in J&K on all 90 seats even as there will be friendly contest on five seats. Yesterday (August 30) NC vice president Omar Abdullah stated that it wasn’t easy to enter into an alliance with the Congress as they had to sacrifice many seats for the coalition. He, however, said it was a time to put up a collective fight against the BJP in the upcoming polls. J&K will witness first Assembly elections after a decade in three phases from September 18— (NVI)
