Kashmir Constructional Workers Union held aprotest here in press enclave they were Demands Time Bound Registration and Due Benefits to Workers A number of building and other construction workers, and held a protest rally at Press Enclave Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Monday.
The participants protested against the apathy of the govt. towards the working class and alleged that the state govt is not serious about implementing the labour laws in letter and spirit; with the result large number of workers and laborers do not receive the financia! support and other due benefits by the J&K Labour Department. it was alleged that the process of registration has been made tedious and some workers are waiting for registration for over two years. Similarly the benefits like scholarship to children marriage assistance to sons and daughters and financial support css30 in the event of death and Chronic Diseases of a labourer are pending for a very long time.
The protesting Union leaders put forth following demands: The Building and other Construction workers Welfare Board which is presently headless should immediately be provided with the Secretary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) which may put the department on rails. Registration process should be simplified, Along with online system, the registration forms should be accepted manually as well. All the pending cases of financial assistance should be Rrocessed in right earnest and their should be no delay on any excuse Mohammad Afzal, Alidul Rashid Najar, Nisar Qamrazi Bashir Budgami other Union Leaders also spoke to the rally
