Srinagar May 1:Claims made about a government job paper leak by a man from Varmul district proved to be untrue and were ‘made for publicity’, the Jammu and Kashmir police said on Tuesday.
A police officer told Kashmir Dispatch that they had received a complaint from the chairman of the service selection board about a viral social media video in which Mudasir Ahmad claimed that the question paper for a deputy revenue officer (Naib Tehsildar ) post was leaked.
Police acted on the complaint by the government’s job examination conducting body and summoned Mudasir, who is a resident of Kreer in the Varmul district.
“During verification, the accused person was called up by police but his mobile was switched off. There after, a police party was sent to his home and he was asked to accompany them to Kreer police station,” the police officer said. “Mudasir was asked to submit proof that he had claimed to have but he failed to do,” he said.
“The assertion that some unknown people had approached him with question paper was found to be untrue. He confessed to have committed a mistake to attract attention for public,” he added.
Mudasir has been booked for rumour mongering and defamation.
