A story published on Tribune reported that The Indian Army reportedly has set a deadline of September to eliminate most of the militants, if not all, in south Kashmir with the full backing of political groups of all hues in the Valley.
They claimed that the Army has “complete political support of the government and many other Political groups in Kashmir”.
The Southern part of Kashmir allegedly has 112 active militants, the Army has embarked on a “surrender or face bullet” iron fist strategy and plans to come down heavily on the militants.
After the July 8, 2016 killing of militant commander Burhan Wani, the Southern part of Kashmir has become a serious challenge for the paramilitary troopers who are planning to go down heavily on militants with the help of the local police.
Apart from being the hot bed of militancy the region became a hub of pro freedom rallies in 2016 post Burhan.
Though top brass commanders have been eliminated, including top-ranking ones like Bashir Lashkar, Sabzar Ahmed Bhat, Junaid Matoo, Majid Zarger but the number of militants continues to swell with every passing day. “
Our primary objective is to remove the atmosphere of fear,” an Army official was quoted as saying.
