Kulgam, Jan 1 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday said to have solved a hit and run case involving death of a motorcyclist in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on December 29, 2021.
“On 29-12-2021, an information was received at Police Station Kulgam from reliable sources that one motorcyclist namely Jahangir Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Subhan Dar, resident of Shurat, Kulgam was hit by one unknown vehicle at Laroo area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kulgam. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled away from the spot along with the vehicle after hitting the motorcyclist, resulting on his spot death”, reads a statement received by GNS.
On the information, a case with FIR No. 258/2021 U/S 279 304A IPC was registered at police station Kulgam and investigation was set into motion following which a special dedicated police team of police station Kulgam was constituted, reads the statement.
‘The team with strenuous efforts utilized all available means of investigative techniques and arrested the accused (driver of the vehicle) within two days.’
“The accused driver has been identified as Mashooq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Salam Dar resident of DH Pora and the vehicle bearing registration number DL5CK-9240 (Swift Car) involved in commission of crime has been also recovered and seized with further investigation of the case going on”, concludes the statement.
