A complete shutdown is being observed in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, against the militants killing killed in a gunfight with government forces on Sunday.
All shops, business establishments, banks and petrol pumps are closed while public transport is off the roads, with heavy contingents of forces and police deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order situations and to prevent protests in the area against the killing of militants.
LeT militants Suhail Ahmad Dar of Redwini Balaa, Mudassir Ahmad alias Rehaan of Katrasoo and Abu Muawiya, a Pakistani national were killed in a fierce encounter with government forces in Khodweni area of the district on Sunday morning. Police claimed the trio were involved in abduction and killing of a police constable Muhammad Saleem Shah.
