Srinagar:Two militants have been killed during an ongoing gunfight in Kundalan village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
An official said that two unidentified militants have been killed during an ongoing firefight and the operation is underway.
Earlier, the youth took to streets and hurled rocks at the forces deployed in the village following a gunfight. The forces responded by firing live ammunition, pellets and tear gas to chase away the protesters resulting in injuries to at least twenty youth.
On today early morning, a joint team of army’s 34 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Kundalan which resulted into the encounter.
Soon after the encounter, massive clashes were witnessed in the Shopian and in parts of Pulwama district.
