Bandipora, April 28: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora on Wednesday organised a training programme regarding raising of rice nursery besides promotion and popularization of Heritage Ric-Mushkbudgi
The programme was attended by about two dozen progressive farmers while following all the covid19 guidelines.
Speaking on the occasion, In-charge Programme Coordinator Dr. Tariq Sultan laid emphasis on raising of rice nursery on scientific lines and informed that site selection, seed treatment, quality seeds, proper fertilizer management, nursery beds and adoption other scientific recommendations was a pre-condition for successful and better harvest of the rice crop.
A practical in-situ demonstration was carried out for the benefit of the farmers who were also provided quality seeds of SR-4 for preparation of nurseries at their end.
Head, Division of Agronomy FOA Wadura Prof. Mohammad Anwar while deliberating on Promotion and scientific cultivation of Heritage Rice Mushkbudgi gave a brief overview regarding the importance and revival of heritage land races of Rice including Mushkbudgi. He informed that promotion and popularization of Mushkbudgi shall be taken up with all the technical assistance to the interested farmers.
Principal Investigator Dr. Sheeraz Mehdi, Dr. F.A Bahar Associate Professor, In-charge Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora Dr. Tariq Sultan, Dr. Tahir Saleem, Dr. H.A. Malik and Dr. Nazir Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
