Ganderbal 03 Oct【KNZ】: Hundreds of quarrying laboureres from various areas of Ganderbal today protested against mining lease auction .
The protesters blocked main road Near Duderhuma Ganderbal and raised slogans against the lease and were demanding roll back of the order.
According to the sources Mining and geology department had issued tender for the bid .About 180 Kanals of land would be given on lease for quarrying.
Protesting laboureres were aghast over the government decision to give the land on lease.
Sind Laboureres union president Firdous Baba said “thousands of laboureres are quarrying on the land for many decades . Government suddenly came with the decision to give land on lease.This is our sole livelihood.”
Police later on baton charged the protesting laboureres and fired few tear gas shells to disperse the protesting crowd”.
