Says arrested banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) member for collecting funds in Baramulla

Srinagar, April 25:Police in Awantipora along with security forces have arrested a Hybrid militant and his accomplice who were planning to target outside labourers. Besides, Police have arrested one person for collecting funds in the name of banned organization JeI in Baramulla.
In a statement to GNS police said that on a specific input, Police along with (Army) 50RR and CRPF 110Bn apprehended one suspect Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Ab Rashid Mir resident of Chandhara and recovered one Pistol along with ammunition from his possession.
The police spokesman further stated that preliminary interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he received a Pistol with ammunition and instructions from a LeT militant code name Haji to attack and kill at least two outside labourers in Pampore town. Rayees was promised to be recruited as militant after execution of the attack.
Rayees Mir (Hybrid militant) sought aid of his friend namely Shakir Hamid Bhat son of Abdul Hamid Bhat resident of Alochibagh Samboora to identify the target and provide him motorcycle for executing this militant act, he said.
Timely intelligence and swift action by joint team of Police, Army and CRPF not only led to the arrest of a hybrid militant and his accomplice but also prevented militant incident and saved precious lives of innocent civilians, he said.
Accordingly a case FIR No.43/2022 registered in police station Pampore and investigation further is continue, he said.
Meanwhile in Baramulla, Police have arrested one person involved in collection of funds in the name of banned organization JeI in Baramulla.
Acting on a specific information about collection of money in the name of banned organization Jamaat-e-Islami in Baramulla town, Baramulla Police & 46RR arrested one person identified as Mohd Amin Ganie son of Ali Mohammad Ganie resident of Microwave Colony Kanlibagh Baramulla who was riding a scooty bearing registration No JK05G-7856. 3 receipt books of Jamaat-e-Islami, 1 mobile phone and cash 15900 INR, which was collected by him from the general public in the name of banned organization JeI, was recovered. During further investigation, a search was also carried out at his house at Kanlibagh Baramulla where from 02 JK Bank Passbook, 03 JK Bank Cheque Books and blank booklet of Jamaat-e-Islami was recovered, he said.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 68/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been started, he said.
Police requests general public to help them in identifying anti-national & anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment, so that action can be taken against them, reads the statement.(GNS)
